What Is a Medicare Advantage Plan?

A Medicare Advantage Plan (also known as Part C of Medicare) is an all-in-one alternative to Original Medicare. These plans are offered by Medicare approved private insurance companies.

What It Covers

Medicare Advantage Plans combine your Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance) coverage, meaning they cover everything that Original Medicare covers and more such as;

  • Prescription Drug Coverage

  • Extra Benefits such as dental, vision, hearing, gym memberships & fitness programs, and sometimes transportation or over-the-counter allowances.

Compare Plans

Medicare Advantage Plans are not all the same. When comparing options, consider:

  • Provider Networks (HMO vs. PPO)

  • Prescription Drug Formularies

  • Out of Pocket Costs (Copays, deductibles, and maximum limits)

  • Extra Benefits (Wellness, hearing aids, dental coverage)

  • Dental, Vision, and hearing coverage/allowances.

  • Fitness programs & Gym Memberships (Ex: Silver sneakers)

  • Personal Emergency response systems

  • Over the counter (OTC) Benefits

  • Transportation to medical appointments

  • (Under Certain Criteria)- Food, Utility, Rent, Pet supplies, Gas allowances.
